GEG Brazil On Air #25

Enhancing blended learning with Google for Education tools was the subject of the 25th GEG On Air. Giuliano Paulino (GEG Americana Leader, GEG Mentor and Google Trainer), Gilmara dos Santos (GEG Joinville Leader) and Rafael Vasconcelos (GEG Florianópolis Leader, GEG Mentor, Google Trainer and Google Innovator) shared their experiences and suggestions regarding Rotational Model, Studying with different platforms to explore new opportunities and prototyping. Seminar: Conexão Nordeste

The seminar Conexão Nordeste (October 6 - 8, 2020) is led by GEG communities in the Northeast of Brazil in partnership with UFRB - Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia. The objective of this event is to empower and value the northeast culture within education; the main theme is “A journey through northeast culture with digital and analogical tools” and the idea is to present pedagogical activities and digital tools within the classroom. GEG On Air #20

GEG Brazil led the 20th GEG On Air on July 1st to discuss how to transform learning experiences from offline to digital with Google for Education. Paulo Henrique (GEG Uberaba Leader) and Raphael Mota (GEG Duque de Caxias) shared amazing and creative ideas of board games, timelines and many other engaging activities using Meet, slides, Jamboard, Gmail, Keep and Calendar. GEG Brazil Meetup

On May 25, GEG Brazil led a meetup with GEG Leaders to set up strategies to help more educators to move to a digital environment using Google tools. More than 70 leaders joined the discussion - which included how to indicate the most important features of crucial G Suite tools considering teachers, students, and parents without previous experiences, how Google for Education and Official Certifications can support the process, and much more. GEG Brazil will also start a new series of GEG On Air to bring to the community's attention important topics, tips, and experiences that can impact educators positively.

GEG Brasil Accessibility | For a More Inclusive Classroom

Since the beginning of the year, GEG Brasil has made a joint effort to help educators find and use the resources for a more inclusive classroom. To this end, GEG Leaders and Google Innovators in Brazil collaborated on an open doc on accessibility broadly advertised in the educational community, and we also had a live session with Laura Allen and Kara Booker, both Accessibility Program Managers in Google, who work with Chrome and Chrome OS Teams.

3rd GEG Brasil Summit | Engaging Communities and Adding Value to Learning

Around 50 GEG leaders from all over Brazil gathered on May 18th at the Google Office in São Paulo to plan local and national activities, to share good practices and network. Our motto is to make our GEG "Sexy" to promote participation and engagement through different types of local events, meetups and training sessions. The group of leaders finished the day with lovely videos, photos, and in high energy to put into practice a plan for L1 certifications with local GEG leaders conducting training sessions, an online learning path in Google Classroom, and a series of 5 hangouts on air. A hybrid solution that mixes local and national actions in blended mode, face to face and online sessions.

The leaders had also a training session with a guest from the Trust & Safety LATAM team about the digital citizenship program #BeInternetAwesome. They all loved to know more on how they can engage other educators for a more safe digital world for our kids.

The GEG Brasil Summit was so productive that we collaborated on our own manifesto in which we answered who we are, how we do things and why GEG exists. Local leaders are sharing the manifesto, inspired by Holstee Manifesto, the Agile Manifesto and by Google Innovators Brasil Manifesto, as well!
