GEG South Korea

It was 2015 when GEG South Korea (www.gegsouthkorea.or.kr) was first recognized as an official Google Educator Group. Since then, it has grown to be a highly sought after place for professional development and membership has grown to ten Google Certified Trainers, two hundred thirty Google Certified Educators, and nearly two thousand active online members. Together, these educators have been working tirelessly to bring innovative learning and teaching to schools and universities in South Korea. GEG South Korea also promotes various types of regional events like edu-camps, online conferences, and training workshops including regular meetup conferences twice a year with more than 150 participants. Through these events, knowledge of Google Educational tools and their power to transform ways students learn is spreading rapidly throughout Korea.

On March 9th, GEG South Korea proudly hosted the Google GEO Edu Day at the Google Korea office in Seoul. About 70 teachers, principals, professors, and educators attended the event to share insights on how to keep the innovative teaching and learning going strong both in and outside of the classroom. Presenters demonstrated how to implement tools such as Google Earth, Maps, Tour Creator, Streetview and Geoguessr to help empower teachers and students. The speakers impressed the audience as they introduced concepts such as community mapping using big data, VR/AR contents for education, global citizenship education and creating VR contents utilizing various GEO tools.

GEG South Korea is a group of passionate, dedicated and innovative educators who make every effort to introduce Google for Education, G-suite and newest technology to schools, educational institutes, and universities to help expand learning and teaching for everyone in Korea. The impacts have already been substantial among the teachers and students who have embraced these Google tools which support remarkably well Google’s mission statement which is “to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.”

  1. Hi! I'm helping t:@EfrenR put t:@GEG_SOUTX back on the map. I know there's a lot of work on your end (most of it still references Google+), but we have already started with a website and a forum gegsoutx.rgv.fyi and we would like to be able to say it's official. I beleive Efren (current leader of GEGSOUTX) already tried contacting you via t:@GegProgram so any advice is greatly appreciated.
