Change the Game is a Google Play initiative to encourage girls from 15 to 21 years old to join the universe of games. The deadline to submit ideas is September 30.

Combined Melbourne GEG event

On Monday, September 9 the Melbourne Google office hosted a combined event with the Melbourne GEG and the Mornington Peninsula GEG. With about 40 people in attendance, the event started with an introduction from two GEG leaders Micah Wilkins and Phil Carew, then some short talks from Googlers Suan Yeo and Chris Betcher followed a series of great presentations from Chris Harte, Nicole Rehman, Sam Higgs, and Kimberley Hall.

The attendees were then treated to a quick tour of the Google office before finishing with some prize giveaways and SWAG. It was a fabulous opportunity for members of both GEGs to meet and learn together. Thanks to Micah and Phil for organizing the event and to the Melbourne Google office for hosting it!

GEGs on Social Media

To stay connected with other GEGs worldwide, we would like for GEG leaders to add their Social Media handles through this Google Form to allow GEG members and groups to follow each other.

If your GEG does not yet have any social media profiles, please chat with your GEG Leadership about the best way of setting these up.

We would recommend using a standard @GEG(yourGEG) as the handle, as in the examples below. Here are a few accounts for you to follow:

Change the Game

GEG Brazil continues putting on amazing activities, you can follow their awesome website and Instagram!

CHANGE THE GAME was a live YouTube chat held recently. Change The Game aims to reduce the gender gap in the technology industry and inspire young women to learn more about career opportunities in technology. Although women are the majority of online game players (59% of all game players!) only 13% are candidates looking to develop careers in technology. Maia Mau brought the program to Brazil and gives tips in this video (in Portuguese) for participating in the challenge.
