Google Digital Wellbeing through Technology
Wellbeing and digital wellbeing are in many teachers’ thoughts right now, with workplace and student stress on a sharp rise. Google has developed a significant website to help us all manage our use of devices with the philosophy that technology should improve life, not distract from it.

Google EDU Winter Festival

Last December 19th, GEG Gyeonggi and GEG Seoul, with the amazing participation of The Gyeonggi Happy Teachers Group, hosted an EDU Winter Festival event at Google Korea’s office. Over 110 educators gathered to share their knowledge and learn from each other.
The event started off with a bi-lingual sing-along where English speakers and Korean speakers both pushed themselves outside of their comfort zones.
The speakers came from many backgrounds and the topics were very diverse. Teachers had a hands-on presentation about the power of Google Classroom with Google Trainers Rob McElroy and TS Bray, where they played the role of both teacher and student to see how this tool can make their classrooms more collaborative and organized. They delved into the importance of showing students that the journey is as important as the destination with a presentation on Process-based assessment.
The Gyeonggi Happy Teachers opened our minds to how interdisciplinary education based on system dynamics can change how and what materials we deliver to our students.
Finally, Judy Kim dazzled everyone with her Google Innovator project that focuses on making Google tools accessible to all. We at GEG Gyeonggi and GEG Seoul hope that 2020 will bring wonderful learning opportunities to everyone in GEG and we hope to host more beneficial and fun events in 2020.

GEG Varginha Leading Training in Brazil
GEG Varginha, supported by GEG Brazil, led qualification sessions for 67 teachers in the municipality and some of these educators are already applying to become a Google Educator Level 1. The intention is to keep leading more of these training sessions this year to offer the opportunity of qualification to other educators in order to take the most advantage of Google for Education solutions. Important support on this process came from the Municipal Department of Education, which allowed teachers to join the training within their working hours. Congratulations to everyone involved!
